Account Guidelines for Non-Residents

We welcome non-professional individuals from around the world to access market data via our Focus platform, however opening a trading account is currently limited to specific account types and jurisditcions as outlined below. Here’s how it works for non-residents:

Who Can Open an Account?
Trading accounts are currently available residents of New Zealand and Singapore, with more countries to be added soon.

For residents of these jurisdictions, trading acounts can be opened for individuals and joint accounts only.  We are unable to open company accounts at this stage.

Subscription Requirement
Before you can apply to open a trading account, you must subscribe to our Focus platform (click here for more information). This subscription covers your access to ASX market data and is non-refundable, even if you choose not to proceed, or cannot open a trading account.

Partnerships You Should Know About
Your trading experience involves several trusted partners:
    • Marketech: Provides client support and manages your Focus platform experience.
    • Openmarkets: Holds your funds securely in a Westpac Bank trust account, and is the ‘Market Participant’ for the ASX/Cboe and NSX.
    • OFX: Handles all cross-border cash transfers.

Steps to Set Up Your Account

o    Complete your Focus platform subscription.

o    Begin trading account opening process

o    At the end of the trading account application process, you’ll be guided to open an OFX account(If you already have an OFX account, OFX will assist you in linking it to your trading account.)


Deposits and Withdrawals

    • To deposit funds: Use your OFX account to transfer money to the Openmarkets Westpac trust.
    • To withdraw funds: Email the Marketech support team to initiate the process.
    • Withdrawals can only be made to a bank account linked to your OFX account, by emailing Marketech support.


Fee information for Non-Residents

    • All brokerage and subscription fees will be charged exclusive of GST, provided you’ve verified your non-resident status by completing a trading account application.
    • Please note: GST will be charged on all accounts until non-resident status is verified during the trading account opening process.  GST fees paid prior to opening a trading account cannot be refunded.
